Rihani Records is a Montreal-based label founded by the team behind Keep MTL Weird, following nearly a decade of organizing events that showcased emerging artists. After years of grassroots work in the local scene, the team felt the need to create a label that could carry their mission further—amplifying underrepresented voices through diverse forms of experimental music. Rihani Records is slowly unfolding into a platform for boundary-pushing sounds and unconventional collaborations. The name « Rihani » (ريحاني) comes from the Arabic word ريحان (riḥān), meaning basil or fragrance, often used as a term of endearment or to describe something fresh, aromatic, and uplifting—qualities that echo the spirit of the music the label supports.
